Last Updated: November 2025

Introduction

These Terms & Conditions of Service outline the agreement between Sankofa Birth Preparation Services Ltd t/a The Sankofa Birth Experience (“we”, “us”, or “our”) and you (the “client”) regarding the provision of our birth preparation and related services. By booking and participating in our services, you agree to the terms outlined below.

1. Our Services

We provide birth preparation services including, but not limited to, hypnobirthing classes, prenatal yoga, biomechanics workshops, relaxation sessions, women's circles and Mother Blessing ceremony facilitation. These may be offered in-person or online.

All services are for educational and informational purposes only. They are not a substitute for medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment from a qualified health professional.

2. Bookings and Payment

Bookings must be made in advance and confirmed by us in writing. Payment will be confirmed either via an automated email from our payment system or directly from Sankofa Birth Preparation Services Ltd in cases where payment is made by bank transfer.

We offer concession pricing at our discretion. Clients wishing to be considered for a concession should contact us directly to discuss their circumstances.

Payment in instalments is available by request, on the condition that the full balance is paid before the first session begins.

Full pricing will be made clear before any booking is confirmed.

3. Cancellations and Refunds

Group Prenatal Yoga Classes: Clients may cancel a group prenatal yoga class up to 24 hours before the start time. Cancellations made with at least 24 hours’ notice will receive a refund or transfer of the booking to another available class.

If a client has purchased a yoga class pack and chooses to cancel before using all sessions, no refund will be due for the unused classes.

Retreats, Mothers’ Circles, birth preparation workshops, and 1:1 sessions: For retreats, Mothers' Circles, birth preparation workshops, and 1:1 sessions, clients may cancel their booking up to 7 days before the start of their session(s). If expenses have already been incurred by us (e.g. venue hire or teaching resources specifically for your session), these costs will be deducted from any refund amount.

Extenuating circumstances: In the case of extenuating circumstances, such as ongoing illness or your baby being born before the sessions are completed, a pro rata refund may be provided at our discretion, excluding any costs already incurred by us.

4. Rescheduling Booked Sessions or Services

If we, the organisation, need to cancel a scheduled session, we will offer to reschedule at a mutually agreed time. If a suitable reschedule cannot be arranged, a refund will be provided, minus the cost of any sessions already attended or completed.

If a client wishes to reschedule a private service, they must notify us as soon as possible. We will make every effort to accommodate the change. If any costs are incurred as a result of rescheduling, the client will be informed in advance.

If a client is unable to attend a booked group yoga class (whether a drop-in or part of a class pack), they should provide at least 24 hours' notice and their missed class will be moved to the next available session they are able to attend.

5. Client Responsibilities

Clients are responsible for ensuring they are physically fit and medically able to participate in any sessions offered. It is the client’s responsibility to inform us of any medical conditions or changes to their health that may impact their participation.

Where sessions take place in the client’s home, it is the client’s responsibility to ensure there is a suitable and safe space for the session to be conducted.

6. Limitation of Liability

While we take every care in the planning and delivery of our services, participation is at your own risk. We are not liable for any injury, loss or damage suffered as a result of participating in our sessions unless caused by our proven negligence.

The classes and events we provide do not constitute medical advice. If you have any questions or concerns about your health or your baby's health, please consult your medical practitioner.
